President Visits BUMN Minister at Medistra Hospital

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono visited ailing State Enterprises Minister Mustafa Abubakar at the Medistra Hospital in South Jakarta on Saturday.

Presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha said President Yudhoyono and the first lady left their private home in Cikeas at 12.30 on Saturday afternoon for Medistra Hospital.

Julian said the president returned on Friday from his Ramadan safari in West Java and Central Java and was still tired but he wanted to know the latest condition of Mustafa.

"President Yudhoyono has just taken the opportunity to visit the state enterprises minister to get first hand information about the latter's health condition," Julian said.

Earlier, on Wednesday, Vice President Boediono and his wife Herawati Boediono visited Mustafa, who was being treated for a heart problem.

Boediono met with Mustafa for about 15 minutes. He later left the hospital for his office on Jl Merdaka Selatan in Central Jakarta.

A number of ministers, national figures and businessmen visited Mustafa at the hospital the day before.

Among the top officials were Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Fadel Muhammad, Secretary of the State Enterprises Ministry Mahmudin Yasin, and Deputy for Primary Businesses to the State Enterprises Minister Megananda Daryono.

Mustafa was admitted to Medistra Hospital at 11.00 a.m. on Tuesday.

The personal secretary of the state enterprises minister, Faisal Halimi said before being admitted to Medistra Hospital Mustafa was rushed to MMC Hospital in Kuningan, South Jakarta, at 03.30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Mustafa was chief of the National Logistics Board (BULOG) before being appointed state enterprises minister in October 2009. (eB)
